In the name of the long friendship that unites them, our President of the General Assembly and his wife – José Gouveia Fonseca and Ana Maria Sousa – traveled to Switzerland to participate in the anniversary programme of this SWISS-MGV8/IG Club founded and developed by the couple Evelyne and Victor Rodrigues, our Member No 12.

On the first day, the meeting point was the Bruggers Hotel which, located in the German city of Titisee-Neustadt, has a beautiful view of Titisee Lake.

The next day, leaving the cars alone at the hotel, they went by bus to explore the region, stopping at the Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus AG brewery in the city of Grafenhausen, to learn that the famous Tannenzäpfle, which is a pilsen, was initially produced in the Benedictine Monastery of St. Blasien, in the year 1791.

To end their stay in the Black Forest they visited, in Furtwagen, the German Clock Museum, which tells the story and exhibits a variety of old cuckoo clocks. They also went to Martinskapelle to discover the source of the Danube River, also known as the Donau-Quelle, where a Danuvius sculpture by Wolfgang Eckert highlights the place, although it is known that the immense river Danube results from the union of the rivers Brigach and Breg, the latter being the more important of the two.

On the last day of September they drove towards Nyon and visited the Emil Frey Museum in Safenwil, which exhibits vehicles from 1930 to 1980, mainly of English and Japanese origin.

On the first day of October, already staying at the Hotel La Bacarolle, they traveled to Morges to participate in what was the 30th edition of the Swiss Classic British Car Meeting. In the evening at the Gala Dinner, Victor Rodrigues pampered everyone with souvenirs alluding to this celebration and in particular his wife who received flowers and the key to a blue MGTF LE 135 for her personal use.

The following day, the Farewell was made after breakfast, with suggestions for possible visits to make the most of the trip.

The MG Clube de Portugal, wish long life to this friendly Club.
Octagonal Greetings.
